This collection consists of one guest book from Hammersmith Farm, the Auchincloss family home in Newport, Rhode Island. Attached to the first page of the guest book is a handwritten letter from Jacqueline Kennedy to her mother, Janet Lee Auchincloss, thanking her for hosting the First Family for a presidential vacation. John Forbes Kerry was born on December 11, 1943, in Aurora, Colorado. He was one of four children born to Rosemary Kerry and Richard Kerry, who served as a Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. State Department. Shortly after he was born, his family moved to Massachusetts. After graduating from Yale University, Kerry enlisted in the United States Navy and served two tours of duty in Vietnam.
